Introduction
Southern Steel Mesh Sdn Bhd, a leading Malaysian steel company, has over 60 years of experience in steel product manufacturing. In 1996 and 2012, Hong Leong Group bought shares from Fleet Group and NatSteel, becoming the major shareholder. In January 2025, the company became a subsidiary of Green Esteel Pte. Ltd and an associate company of Hong Leong Manufacturing Group Sdn Bhd. The group’s operational impact includes improving supply chain, expanding distribution channels, and developing products and services based on customer needs. In 2023, the company celebrates its 60th anniversary, formerly known as Southern Iron & Steel Works. The company has expanded rapidly, acquiring Southern Pipe, Southern Wire, and the building of a steel making plant.
