Solidgold Helmets Sdn Bhd is a leading manufacturer of motorcyclist helmets in Malaysia, established in 1980. The company’s name, Solidgold, is derived from the Chinese name of its Chairman, Kim Onm, who means “Gold” and “Solid” or “Firm”. The company’s most popular brand is “SGV”, which translates to “Solid Gold Values”. Solidgold Helmets has achieved many firsts in Malaysia, including testing their Apollo brand helmets under the new Malaysian Standards for motorcyclist helmets, MS1:1996, and making a SIRIM approved children helmet over 30 years ago. They also innovated by making helmets with water decals, bright and colorful helmets, matt colored helmets, leather helmets, double visor helmets, and chrome rubber linings. In 2008, Solidgold Helmets became the first motorcyclist helmet manufacturer in Malaysia to be certified by SIRIM and awarded the ISO 9001 Certificate for Quality Management System.
